I cannot find my case when I search by docket number
Level 1: Try a Name Search
If you cannot find your case using your docket number, try completing a name search instead:
-
Hover on the Pay Online menu, which appears in the light blue bar across the top of any UJS Portal page, and click on Traffic Ticket or Court Costs.
-
Click on the Search By dropdown and select Person.
-
Select the Court Type that represents the level of court where the case is filed. If you're not sure what to select, use the following as a guide based on the defendant's case:
Magisterial District Court – Including, but not limited to, traffic and non-traffic citations. Non-traffic refers to summary offenses, unrelated to the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, which usually result in a fine (Examples: disorderly conduct, loitering, low-level retail theft).
Court of Common Pleas – Including, but not limited to, all major criminal cases, DUI cases, and appeals from the Magisterial District Court.
Philadelphia Municipal Court – Including, but not limited to, minor criminal cases originating in Philadelphia County.
-
Enter the Last Name of the defendant.
-
Enter the First Name of the defendant.
-
Enter the court County where your case is filed.
-
Leave the other fields blank and click the SEARCH button to review your search results.
If you are unable to find your case, try modifying your search.
Level 2: Modify Your Name Search
Complete the following steps:
-
Click the CLEAR button.
-
Reselect Person from the Search By dropdown.
-
Reselect the Court Type.
-
Reenter the Last Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Reenter the First Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Enter the defendant’s Date of Birth.
-
Leave the other fields blank and click the SEARCH button to review your search results.
Level 3: Still Unable to Find Your Case?
There are multiple reasons why your case may not appear. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
-
The payment plan no longer has a balance.
-
One or more cases in the payment plan have been designated as limited access (Act 83 of 2020/Clean Slate). Any cases designated as limited access cannot be made public and, therefore, cannot be found on searches on the UJS Web Portal even if a balance is still owed.
-
One or more cases in a payment plan are sealed.
-
One or more cases in a payment plan are pending expungement.
If you have questions about your case or payment plan, or you need to make alternative payment arrangements, contact the court where your case is filed.

If you don’t have the court’s phone number, refer to the Magisterial District Court or Common Pleas Court phone listing. Clicking either of these links opens a new webpage.

-
In the blank field, enter the district court number in which your case is filed (Sample District Number: 51-3-01).
-
Click the SEARCH button.
-
Click the SHOW DETAILS button to display the phone number for the court.

Using PAePay on the UJS Portal to pay traffic tickets, fines, costs, or restitution is not a requirement. As an alternative, you can use the information on the citation to submit your payment by mail.
